The Senator representing Benue North East Senatorial District, Emmanuel Memga Udende, on Saturday, led party members across the district and voted for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary elections.

Addressing his supporters at the Ukum Local Government headquarters in Sankera, Udende who is the Senate Committee Chairman on Anti-corruption and Financial Crimes noted that President Tinubu has done a lot for Benue and Nigeria in general.

The statement issued by Senator Udende’s media aide, Jerry Orgem Iorngean, said the Senator identified infrastructure and an improved Nigerian economy, as well as the appointment of Benue indigenes to key offices in his administration, as reasons for their support.

“For the first time in the history of Benue State, we have our very own Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). We have a Grade A Minister in Benue State, the Chairman of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), among several other federal government appointments in the state, which collectively warrant giving the President another opportunity to continue with his good policies,” Udende stated.

Udende, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the recent APC National Assembly primaries, “where some individuals decided to manufacture results at guest houses and private residences against the designated council wards headquarters”

Udende who described the National Assembly APC primary election results in the state as unacceptable , insisted that results would not stand.

The senator further, “appreciated the good people of Ukum and Benue North East Senatorial District for coming out in large numbers to queue and vote for the President. The trust and support for President Tinubu and APC would not go in vain”

On his part, the member representing Ukum State constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr. Ezra Nyiyongo, encouraged party members to always support their leaders and rally behind, “ President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, not just now but also during the forthcoming presidential and National Assembly general elections for a better Nigeria.

The statement added, “While Senator Udende led party members to vote at his Tsaav Council Ward headquarters in Afia, Ukum Local Government Area, Engr. Ezra Nyiyongo was sighted at Melabu in Mbayenge Council ward during the exercise”

Terrorists Ambush Troops, Kill 6 Soldiers In Kaduna

Nigerian Army officer and six soldiers were killed on Monday evening when troops came under a deadly ambush by suspected terrorists during a patrol operation in the Rigachikun area of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The attack occurred amid intensified military operations that have, in recent weeks, significantly degraded the activities of armed groups operating along the Kaduna-Zaria corridor and surrounding communities.

Security sources told PRNigeria that the troops had embarked on a routine operational patrol following a series of successful clearance operations that resulted in the neutralisation of several terrorist kingpins and their foot soldiers in the area.

According to the sources, the soldiers were returning from the mission when they were ambushed by heavily armed assailants, triggering a fierce gun battle.

Although the troops reportedly fought back and inflicted casualties on the attackers, the ambush claimed the lives of one officer and six soldiers.

The incident has come as a setback following recent successes recorded by troops operating under the 1 Division Nigerian Army in the area.
